When you miss your flight, there can be repercussions depending on the policy of the respective airline. It will also depend on the circumstances that caused you to miss your flight.

Here are some possible outcomes:

  • No-show fee: There are some airlines that may charge a no-show fee if you are not able to check in. The fee can range from a small percentage of the ticket price to the entire ticket price.
  • Rebooking or rescheduling: You may be able to book another flight depending on the policies of the concerned airline. In this case, you may also have to pay the difference in fare if the new flight is more expensive than the original one.
  • Standby: There is a chance that some airlines may allow you to fly on standby on the next available flight. It is usually free, but there is no surety of it as the airline can not ensure a seat for you on the standby flight.
  • Refunds: In some cases, depending on the type of ticket, you may be able to get a refund for your unused ticket. Again, all of it depends on the refund policy of the concerned airline.

It is significant to remember that the circumstances matter a lot, like if you have missed your flight due to weather conditions or external factors beyond your control. Airlines may be more accommodating in these cases. But the airline is less likely to show leniency if you miss your flight as a result of your error, such as being late to the airport.

While keeping all the above-mentioned scenarios in mind, always try to check in on time at the airport.
