World’s Largest Museum of Harappan Culture to Come up at Haryana
Harappan Civilization is one of the oldest civilizations in the world. Artifacts related to this ancient civilization can be found in many museums across India, but Haryana will soon get a museum that will be dedicated entirely to Harappan culture. What’s more? This museum to be set up in Rakhigarhi, a small village in the Hisar district of Haryana, is going to be the world’s largest museum of its kind.
Rakhigarhi, located on the Ghaggar-Hakra River plain, is an important archaeological site with a history dating back to the Indus Valley period. This place is largely unexcavated and at present, excavation work by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is going on.
The construction work for this museum at Rakhigarhi is also underway and according to the officials, the museum will showcase some 5000-year-old artifacts related to the Indus Valley Civilization.
Rakhigarhi is situated at a distance of about 150 km from Delhi.
